I have not been very productive on the quilting front recently but thought you might like to see the quiltlette which I made for the Contemporary Quilt Suitcase Challenge 2010. The theme was 'Childhood Memories'. This collection can be borrowed by contacting the Quilters Guild.
My earliest recollections stem from the time when I lived in a house known as Studland. My quilt depicts those memories: ‘sorting’ my mother’s sewing box (made by my great grandfather and now owned by me), spending hours stitching on large hole Binca fabric, playing shops and ‘making’ tea’ for my animals. My mother, being a primary school teacher, taught me to read (Janet and John books), write and count at an early age. The leaves represent the woodland at the bottom of our garden where I had my swing.
A hand dyed wholecloth with over printed details. The leaves, lettering and ‘cross stitch grid’ are printed or stencilled using Jacquard Lumiere acrylics.
Kindly note - Every effort has been made to ascertain that no trade names and copyrights have inadvertently been infringed by the inclusion of the scanned product images.
